Position Qualifications
Be a current student of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits.
Have a grade point average of 2.25 or higher.
Duties of a Student Senator
Attend the Senate meetings (every other Monday at 5:15 PM).
Serve on two Senate committees comprised of other Senators and students.
Serve a minimum of two office hours per week.
Responsibilities of a Senator
Represent the students of UW-Green Bay on issues before Senate.
Keep the students informed on topics before Senate and those discussed in Senate meetings.
Be open to feedback from other students and aid students with questions and concers.

Academic Affairs - This committee is responsible for maintaining and improving the academic standing of this university. The committee is dedicated to keeping academic related issues on the forefront with the administration. Academic Affairs will have the primary legislative responsibility for review and recommendation of academic policies, or any matters concerning academics at the university.

Arts & Performance - This committee is responsible for promoting events related to the arts and performing arts here at UW-Green Bay. The committee is dedicated to collaborating with related student organizations and institutions such as the Lawton Gallery, 407 Gallery, and the Weidner. This committee also manages the Arts & Culture Fund.

Environmental Affairs - This committee seeks to promote sustainability on campus and works to understand the concerns of the current student body on local, state and federal matters related to the environment and the impacts of such matters on this University. This committee also manages the Sustainability Fund.

Equity & Diversity - This committee works to create an environment that allows all people to feel comfortable on our campus, no matter their sex, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, gender expression, etc, and to raise awareness about the issues minorities may face.

Health & Safety - This committee has primary legislative responsibility for review and recommendation of all matters of health, safety, and living climate. The committee will continue to work closely with the administration to make sure that the safety requirements for students are met or exceeded.

Intergovernmental Affairs - This committee is responsible for connecting UW-Green Bay students with local, state, and federal government. The committee is dedicated to reviewing and updating the SGA Constitution, Senate Bylaws, and Executive Bylaws to reflect changes that pass the Student Senate, as well as working with political leaders from the community to inform and involve students in prominent political issues.

Location Campus Affairs - This committee shall have primary responsibility for all matters relating to each campus location's governing policies and decisions. It shall also create and review legislation for the benefit of all campuses. Complaints made by location campus students or the location campus student government associations will be handled by the Committee. "Location campus" shall mean any of the campuses of this university at Marinette, Sheboygan or Manitowoc.

Recreation & Athletics - This committee is committed to making Athletics and Active Lifestyles a major part of campus life UW-Green Bay. Currently the Committee’s main goals include working with Facilities Management to ensure a smooth transition between the Phoenix Sports Center and the Kress Events Center, creating intramural programs that students want to see on campus, and getting student-athletes to become more a part of the general student body.

SUFAC - This committee is responsible for the distribution of segregated university fee monies and for overseeing the use of segregated fees. This review involves recommendations on increases, decreases, or the continuation of existing fees paid by the students each semester.

Union & Dining - This committee strives to improve student satisfaction of food and University Union operations by collaborating with the Executive Director of the University Union and the current food service provider. Senators are given the opportunity to propose Union/dining related projects to initiate on campus.

In order to complete your Senate application, you need to collect 30 signatures from UW-Green Bay students to ensure you have the support of students for your nomination. Any student can sign your form, but each student can only sign your form once. If you would like assistance obtaining your signatures, contact a member of SGA by visiting the SGA Suites (University Union-151) or sending an email to stsenate@uwgb.edu.
Upon submitting your application, you will receive an email with a document to collect your signatures. After printing, and receiving your 30 signatures, please return the document to the SGA Suites (UU-151) or emailing your copy to stsenate@uwgb.edu. If you are unable to print, you are welcome to grab a copy of the signatures document from the SGA Suites (UU-151).
