Campus Compost Collection

Hello! We're excited to offer a FREE compost collection service on-campus in HOUSING and OFFICES, and you're invited to sign up!

WHAT? Participating residents or employees will collect their food waste in a bucket and our intern will collect it from the central drop-off weekly and empty it at the University Union composter.

WHO? You! And anyone else who is motivated to compost their food waste instead of landfilling it.

WHEN? The program runs through the academic year (fall and spring semester; no winter service), or until you decide to stop participating and return your bucket. You can sign up any time as long as we have buckets available.

WHERE? Folks in residence halls will drop off and pick up their buckets outside the Community Center (just outside the doors to the mailroom). Folks in shared office spaces will work with our intern to determine the best location for pickup.

WHY? Cuz composting is cool! And helps keep our planet cool by reducing methane (aka greenhouse gas) emissions from food rotting in landfills. ;)

HOW? It's easy...
1) Sign up below!
2) Attend one of our required trainings and receive your compost bucket and lid
3) Keep your bucket in your room or shared space to collect your compostable items
4) Drop off your buckets at your designated time & location weekly
5) Come back to pick up your bucket on the same day
6) Repeat until the end of the year (or whenever you want to stop), and then return the bucket
