Purpose of Research: This research explores the perceptions people have of others they read about in short stories.

Procedures: You may first be asked to answer a few questions about yourself. Then, you will be asked to read a short narrative. Finally, you will be asked to answer several questions, including questions about the character(s) from the narrative and your impressions of them. Completion of the survey will take approximately 35 minutes.

Benefits: Participants in the UWGB ERLP program will receive 3 ERLP credits for participation. All participants can benefit from the knowledge that they have contributed to the advancement of research in this area of study.

Risks: The risks associated with participation are minimal. Participants may experience normal anxiety associated with questions about one's self when it comes to the survey process and the questions they have to answer.

Safeguards: The information you provide will be kept strictly confidential. Your data will be stored in a password protected data file. Your participation is completely voluntary, and you may withdraw from this study at any time without penalty, prejudice, or loss of benefits to which you would otherwise be entitled.
